Minority Cuisine Friendship Dinner

DATE December 15, 2015 VENUE Moda Deniz Club Istanbul cuisine is one of the most unique examples of the East-West synthesis in culinary culture... It has emerged from a blend of classic Turkish flavors and the traditional cultures of minority groups—such as Greek, Armenian, and Jewish—inherited from the Ottoman Empire. Istanbul’s dining tables, shaped by the fusion of minority cultures from the Byzantine era to the present day, form a colorful mosaic. Of course, it is impossible to showcase all these magnificent cuisines—each with its own unique richness—in a single evening’s event. During this special evening, we enjoyed a delightful experience in a warm and friendly atmosphere, featuring tastings from our minority cuisines, glimpses of their music, and cultural conversations. Organized with the support of Toros Alcan, Representative of the Minority Foundations, and former Representative Laki Vingas, the evening served as the first and introductory installment of our “Minority Cuisines” series of friendship dinners.
