Kitchen Friends continue to visit restaurants that have won the Golden Spoon Award. The destination for their summer gathering was Od Urla, run by Chef Osman Sezener, who won the 2019 Turkish Chef of the Year award.
The day began at the Urla City History Archive—located inside the Arditi Mansion, formerly known as the Tekel building, which chronicles Urla’s history, various aspects of its social life, and its cuisine—and continued with a tasting menu at Od Urla.
The culinary delights included a purslane salad with Armola cheese and peach sorbet, goat cheese-stuffed mantı, and beef tongue and cheek served with keşkek and mint oil. The lunch, accompanied by the 7 Bilgeler Anaxagoras Chardonnay and then the Pythagoras blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, concluded with a strawberry and basil sorbet served over white chocolate yogurt mousse.
After the meal, the Friends of the Kitchen joined Chef Osman Sezener on a tour of Od Urla’s kitchens, garden, and vegetable patches to witness firsthand the efforts being made toward sustainable cuisine.
